Meet SPIbelt Ambassador Basma

Hi friends, my name is Basma and I’m an avid health and diabetes advocate, volunteer, YouTube creator, and the creator of Voice for Champions – a lifestyle and type one diabetes motivational blog. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 3 years old and have been advocating and publicly speaking since the age of 10. I am heavily involved with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as well as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to help advocate for diabetes legislation and funding for research.
Although not a very experienced runner, I love working out for the physical as well as mental benefits. I wear a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system to help me track my blood sugars, and I am currently on multiple daily injections (MDI). Running has helped me stabilize my blood sugars and has taught me that nothing is achieved overnight!
Over the past few years, I have been able to use social media and my blog to spread awareness, fight for diabetes legislation and inspire others to live a happy and healthy life in attempt to reach more people around the world! My personal goal everyday is to inspire others to share their stories and find their voice in whatever they’re truly passionate about. If I’m not advocating, you can find me spending quality time with my amazing parents and friends, cuddling my dog Chloe, reading a good book, or hitting the gym in between classes!
Q & A

What is your biggest goal for 2020?

My biggest goal for 2020 is to work everyday towards bettering myself! I think the biggest opportunity for us to grow is to continue to learn. My biggest goal is to spend every day learning or doing something new or daunting. I want to look back on 2020 and see all the ways I grew from tangible experiences!

What is your favorite SPIbelt product?

My favorite SPIBelt product is the Luxe belt! I love how I can go from casual to dressed up in it, and still have everything I need on me. It works amazingly for concerts and theme parks and of course the beautiful hard finish makes it super photogenic!

Coolest place you have taken your SPIbelt?

I would have to say Paris, France either on the Eiffel Tower or when we visited their Disney World!

What quote or motto keeps you motivated?

“Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.”

Anything else you would like to share?

Whatever it is that you are passionate about, don’t give up on it no matter what anyone says. If it truly matters to you, just continue doing it from a place of love!
