Meet SPIbelt Ambassador Liia
Hi! As cheesy as it sounds, running is my therapy. I had an epiphany last summer after severely over training for a race and feeling pretty disconnected from the sport. After about four weeks with only a handful of short struggle filled runs, out of character mood swings, and lack of energy, I set out to push through 10km. At the 8km mark I realized I was still running and had not turned around, leaving 8km still ahead of me to get home. And the beautiful part was, I didn’t care. Because I just love running, and I need to do it be be happy. That 8km home was the best 8km I have ever ran, and I will never forget it. I found running when I was in high school. I started casually, had a couple of injuries and eventually ran my first half marathon in 2011. Since 2011 I have completed several half marathons a year along with other races. I signed up for my first full marathon this May, and am so very excited to take on the challenge. I am also a volunteer group fitness instructor, teaching step aerobics, indoor cycling and barre fitness. I love the adrenalin that comes from getting in front of a class and putting on the best show I can. It is the closest I will get to being Britney Spears! By day I work for the YMCA of Greater Vancouver. I am the General Manager of the Robert Lee YMCA downtown Vancouver. I have a partner who is also a fitness fanatic, and a triathlete, completing several half Ironman’s annually. My three favourite things are running, ice cream and terrible jokes/puns. My three favourite items are SPIbelts, crockpots and no dents hair elastics. I have yet to master doing my three favourite things at once, however have definitely used all three of my favourite products at the same time. It was the best feeling.
