Meet SPIbelt Ambassador Stanley
Hi everyone! I am a husband of a wonderful wife and the father to three boys (13, 15, 17) that challenge me on a daily basis. I am a 20 year United States Navy veteran that hated running when I was on active duty. The typical remark that I make to people that hesitant to this running lifestyle is that “I ran more in one year than I ran in my entire Navy career and loved it.” It is hard to believe that I started from that negative attitude and progressed into a person that has maintained a run streak that has spanned more than four years. It has become my stress relief and counselor. Running has allowed me to be a part of a lifestyle and community that has given me opportunities to mentor young kids through running and meet lifelong friends. See you on the roads…#NewtonsFirstLaw
What is your biggest goal for 2019?
I want 2019 to be the year that I complete my first 50K. I am not going to fall into the trap and say only 50K. I made that mistake about 4 years when I said that I was only doing one marathon…fast forward to 7 marathons later.
What is your favorite SPIbelt product?
I like the the SPI H2O Venture Series belt because it allows me to carry everything that I need on my longer runs during my marathon training cycles. Plus, it is comfortable and the bottles don’t bounce and irritate.
Coolest place you have taken your SPIbelt?
“A galaxy far away…” Just kidding it was on a Disney Cruise. The stormtroopers that stopped me on my morning run on the deck said my Limited Edition Tiger’s Eye looked like bounty hunter markings.
What quote or motto keeps you motivated?
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Anything else you would like to share?
Run your own mile. This is going to be a personal journey that only you can decide.
